These topics are covered:
Web 2.0
What is this new concept and how does it affect the nature and functionality of the online world. Many people still have not heard of the term Web 2.0 – and are thus not privy to the advantages that this space affords. This new and mature state of the Internet is disrupting industries across the globe, and those in the know are using it to their advantage. Web 2.0 has made is possible for people on the Long Tail (a concept coined by Chris Anderson) to emerge as successful local, and global players.
Web Strategy
What does it take to implement a comprehensive Web Strategy into a business or organization? Moving as much as possible to the Web, and using the Web as a “platform” as we call it, has many advantages. There is less reliance on local computers and networks, and mobility and flexibility are taken to new levels. A comprehensive Web Strategy covers 3 areas, i.e. Productivity, Marketing, and Customer Service.
Social Media Marketing
The marketing landscape has change, and continues to change. Marketing is now a very powerful tool in the hands of those operating on the Long Tail. Marketing is no longer about big corporations tell us what we need and should have. No. Marketing is now about relationships, it’s about conversations. The people have power now. And if you don’t have your ears to the ground, you will lose out. What are people talking about? Are they talking about your brand? “Listening is the new marketing” as Social Media expert Chris Brogan says. Are you listening?
What’s all the fuss about Twitter?
Twitter has taken the world by storm. It is conversation medium allowing 140 characters of messages to be broadcasted across the world. Initially it looks like a waste of time, and something of no value. After understanding it properly, this perception quickly changes. After 2 hours with Tania Melnyczuk and her colleague, she said: “Thanks to his valuable input, I am now following Jamaal on both Twitter and Facebook with greater humility and an opened mind.” Read her complete testimonial here.
Online Recruiting
Human Resources have also taken a shift with the advent of Web 2.0 and it’s related technologies. In particular, the aspect of recruitment is heading in a new direction. Agencies who are in the know, are using social networking websites to grow their business. With millions of people placing their educational qualifications and work experiences online, this is a golden opportunity for the recruitment industry. Furthermore, people are talking about their work experiences – both positive and negative. This is important for the brands involved, but also a niche opportunity for recruiters.
WebPR
The PR industry has also been affected by online technologies. For an effective PR campaign, any company or organization is now compelled to consider their online presence and communications. Only a minority of PR agencies understand this well. Most of them are still entrenched in the old methods of PR. The Web has created new types of media, new tools for engagement and participation, and also – new audiences.
Please note: Not-for-profit organizations and community upliftment projects do not pay for speaking engagements – this we do as part of our social responsibility. We can only cater for a limited number of events though, so please book early.
